Paul Tibbets was the heroic pilot of the Enola Gay, the aircraft that dropped the first ever atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan on 6 August 1945, effectively ending World War II. Had the powers to be not elected to take this military action or if we had been unable to create this technological weapon, there is total certainty that I and my siblings would have never come to existence and the world would have turned out to be much different place these last 62 + years. General Tibbets was a living legend and true American hero.
