Doing Well

I have had some strange troubles lately with my blogger page access, so I apologize for not posting an update here on my status sooner.  Blogger is part of Google, and a program called Google Analytics has been coming up when I have tried to enter blogger in the last two weeks or so, but I think I may have finally figured out what was going on and addressed it, successfully hopefully.  For those I told that this would be a source of information concerning my current and recent life, I promise to try to provide more material in the coming weeks and months when there is reason for publicity.

After over five weeks of being in Denver, things are pretty good.  I have been working in the warehouse for my entire time here, and I could not ask for a better turn of events and situation.  I really am blessed to have had a guardian angel watching out for me and facilitating my presence with this employer sight unseen.  I have worked hard since beginning there and hope I have made a positive impression.  After many months of frustration and failure it has been a wonderful positive to return to work and feel productive as well as have a creative outlet somewhat.  It is also nice to throw away without hesitation all the email relating to employment services like Careerbuilder, Monster, Indeed, Jobing, and all the others I tried totally unsuccessfully to obtain employment in the last several months and more.

Housing remains an unsolved issue, but an action may be forthcoming within a few days of this writing (it is WED 25 AUG evening as I write this).  I have been staying at the ACTS Food Bank since I got here, but I may have enough money set aside to line up an apartment in the next few to several days.  Cost is a challenge as many places ask for a deposit matching the monthly rent, which is impossible to find for an amount less than about $550 or so.  There are some options which may be more favorable, but I have to wait a few more days to try to act on them.  Hopefully I can find a place that will allow me to make a partial payment on the deposit if it is that steep, or a place where the deposit is quite a bit less.  Another critical issue is location and everything associated with that.  I want to be somewhere secure where I feel safe and not imperiled, both personally and for my possessions.  I also would like a  place that is largely quiet and peaceful without a lot of noise and rowdy people nearby.  I believe I can successfully address those issues based on my existing knowledge of the city and suburbs.  While there are absolutes and sure bets, hopefully my judgment will prove to be positive without hassles and concerns in the short and long term.  Finally the timing of all this has to be coordinated with my storage room.  It comes due again in one week and I was hoping not to pay on it again, but that may not be able to be avoided due to the possible timing of events and actions.  Paying it will take some pressure off, but I may not have the full flexibility to make a decision that would be in my best interests concerning a place to live.  I have already planned to leave the shelter next TUE or WED, and hopefully it will be into a place of my own, but the possibility of temporarily going to a  motel is also there.  Hopefully I won't have to go that route, but I am prepared to do so.

More on these matters in the next few to several days.

My health is good, although I have run out of one of my prescriptions and the other three will probably run out in the next two weeks.  One of the great benefits of my employment is the physical nature of it.  I have been doing a lot of lifting and hoisting, getting alot of upper body and even leg exercise in by lifting boxes filled with filters into stacks that I can make over 15' in height.  My body has been largely positive with all this working out, and I have not had much pain, soreness, or discomfort.  I am decent shape so it is nice not to have to go through any physical adjustment to this employment like I did when I went to Radio Shack, The Wrangler, and even Anderson News back in the 90s.  I have been perspiring buckets of sweat and hopefully there is a positive in doing that.  I have not done much walking other than through the warehouse on a daily basis, but hopefully I can get back to that once I settle in and when the weather starts to slowly cool in the coming month.

I have gotten cellular telephone service again, which is wonderful to be able to connect to those people in my life near and far on the spur of the moment.  I have already experienced some great personal rewards in having some conversations with some of those, and anticipate more in the coming weeks and beyond.

I have some other personal observations about myself and my circumstances to add, but I will do that at a future point.

In conclusion for today, things are markedly better for me, much more than I could have anticipated when I think back to where I was in July and in prior months.  While there is still a ways to go and concerns are always present, nothing stands at the moment as an significant obstacle or impediment.  Everyone has challenges and problems, and mine are largely paltry relative to those that others face daily and in the short and long term.  I will be fine, and I have a great deal of optimism for the time ahead in the coming months and beyond.  Considering where I was and where I thought I could be, things are going good, and getting better.
