Randy Pausch emerged in the public eye in a matter of months to fame, noteriety, and revered respect with his writings and lectures based on his enlightened, humbling, and simple joyous outlook and viewpoint on life in light of his terminal pancreatic cancer which would inevitably soon end his life. Pausch rose from humble beginnings to become a respected and accomplished academician and scholar at the Carnegie-Mellon Institute in Pittsburgh. But his writings and simple observations on what life needs to be about struck a deep chord with many people and provided guideposts on how to really live life for his many newfound fans and friends. His striking book, The Last Lecture, was released only in April '08 and is an international bestseller. He made numerous public appearances and was featured on such television programs as 20/20, Nightline, and The Oprah Winfrey Show. Pausch leaves his wife, Virginia; three very young children ( the actual intended audience for his book) ; a brother; and a sister.-
