2008 Stanley Cup Finals

The National Hockey League got the ideal finals series in getting the optimum matchup between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Redwings. These two clubs were the two best clubs throughout the regular season and have played splendidly in the postseason. Both clubs are solid offensively and defensively. I give a slight edge on offense to the Penguins and on defense to the Redwings. Goaltending and special teams are even for the most part. This series promises to be exciting with end-to-end action. I think there is a great chance this series may go the full seven, something that is always special and memorable. We have had full seven games series in the Stanley Cup finals four times this decade already (01: Colorado over New Jersey; 03: New Jersey over Anaheim; 04: Tampa Bay over Calgary; and o5: Carolina over Edmonton) which is the most times this has ever occurred in any decade in the history of the sport. While the sport has its issues and challenges, it is possible to think that we are witnessing the golden era of professional hockey in North America right now, particularly with the ease and greater availability to watch and follow the sport at a rate and level that is unprecedented for fans across the continent. I will take youth and speed in this Stanley Cup Finals, so call it...PENGUINS, 4-3.
