New Star Trek Movie to be Delayed Until May '09

I, like many others, including my youngest brother, was anticipating the new Star Trek film be released in December '08. Now we will have wait another five months as Paramount Pictures announced a re-arranging of the release dates of its film productions, largely due to the recently settled three-plus months writers strike. The new Star Trek film will be a prequel, focusing on the initial expedition of the mission. A new cast will play the familiar characters, but Leonard Nimoy has a role in the new film in as of yet unknown role; it is probable he is playing Spock again in an unusual way. William Shatner and the other surviving members of the original cast from the late 1960s TV series and the movies that ran primarily in the 1980s and early 90s will not be in this new film.

What was Your Worst Car ?

Since I started driving, I have had the following vehicles: Ford Gran Torino, Buick LaSabre, Ford F-150, another Buick LaSabre, Ford Opel, Mercury Marquis, another Ford F-150 (the one I currently possess), two Jeep Cherokees, two Honda Accords, and one Honda Civic. All the vehicles had things I liked and disliked about them. Probably the worst vehicles were the Jeep Cherokees as they constantly had things wrong with them and drank gasoline like a Republican corporate executive with an endless expense account. The best vehicles were the Honda Accords with their excellent fuel consumption, steady reliability, and overall design. Given the choice to buy an additional vehicle again sometime in the future, I would go with one that has excellent fuel economy as well as one that I would fit in comfortably and able to get in and out of easily. Readers, feel free to share your feelings and opinions about the various automobiles you have had in your lives.

Beef Recall of Concern

I do not buy grocery store beef but on very rare special occasions as it is too pricey for my tight budget, but I do enjoy a cheeseburger a couple of times a month at the local Burger King when I go out to read my newspapers. I want to have confidence in our food supply, but stories like this are alarming. I also am concerned about imported foods from places like China, where safeguards do not exist to any extent. By the time one gets to my age, one tends to eat much of the same kind of food usually at home and does not experiment or vary from the favorites or basics that have been part of the dietary routine for decades. In a restaurant, however. one is tempted at times to try something new. But I rarely go to any exciting places with an innovative menu so the likelihood of getting waylaid by strange and new foods is almost nil. Hopefully I will not get surprised by the ordinary routine basics and staples that make up my diet from sources like the grocery store and mainstream restaurants.
